Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the entire region.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for most of South Western Ontario including Oxford County.
Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and end this evening. The thunderstorms will be generated in the warm, humid air mass ahead of a cold front moving in tonight.
The thunderstorms could develop strong wind gusts with the potential for large hail and heavy rain. Strong winds can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings and even overturn large vehicles. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
Environment Canada is reminding everyone to head indoors when the thunder roars.
