Smile for the Camera

Oxford County council passed a motion yesterday that will allow school buses to be equipped with camera's to catch drivers who blow past them, when their lights are flashing.

OXFORD COUNTY - If anyone blows by a stopped school bus with its lights flashing, they should smile for the camera.

Oxford County Council has voted in favour of a regulatory change to the Highway Traffic Act. The amendment would equip school buses with cameras to capture the image of any vehicle that does not stop.

Currently a guilty verdict means a fine of between $400 and $2,000 and 6 demerit points for a first offence.
