The first candidate has come forward in Ward 4 in South-West Oxford for the upcoming municipal election.
SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - Ward 4 in South-West Oxford has a candidate for the municipal election.
Isaiah Friend is looking to become the next councillor for the Ward and has been living within SWOX for 6 years. Friend says he has been able to talk with the Mayor of SWOX and thought this could be the right time to run.
"The more you talk about it, and what decisions and things that they need help with seem to be a good fit for what my skill set is. The other side of it too is if you don't get involved, you can't help make a difference."
Friend adds that as much as everyone has a busy schedule, if you want to help make a difference, you will find the time. Friend says what his approach would be if elected.
"And it really comes down to just talking to the people in the area and understanding what their concerns and issues are themselves."
Friend mentions one issue he is passionate about would be maintaining the farmland and not having it turned into residential land. Residents of South-West Oxford will head to the polls on Monday, October 26, 2026.
