Woodstock City Council has pledged funds for renovations at the Southside Aquatic Centre.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council has pledged funds for renovations at the Southside Aquatic Centre.
$139,000 will be spent to improve air quality and update aquatic centre equipment according to Deputy Mayor Jerry Acchione.
"The problem of having a pool inside is you have a lot of moisture and moisture is not good for wood and mould and everything else. By having an effective way of drying the moisture out you're going to make the whole structure more comfortable for people in there and also better for all the equipment and safer and healthier."
Acchione says the renovations will happen during the Aquatics Centre's scheduled shut down.
"They plan on doing all the outside work on the building while they are open, but the interior work, doing the work while they shutdown if all goes well - so hopefully residents won't see any disruption of service."
