Southwestern Public Confirms 12 New Cases of COVID-19 Today

Most of the new cases over the weekend are from Bayham. We currently have 15 active cases in Oxford County with 11 in Woodstock.

OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health is reporting 12 new cases of the virus this morning and 1 recovery. 

We currently have 29 active cases of the virus in the region with 15 in Oxford County. Most of the new cases over the weekend are from Bayham. Here is the breakdown of the locations according to Southwestern Public Health:

Woodstock - 11

Tillsonburg - 2

Ingersoll - 1

South-West Oxford - 1

Bayham - 12

St. Thomas - 1

Aylmer - 1

To date we have had 7 institutional outbreaks at Long Term Care Homes.  We currently only have 1 active outbreak at the Secord Trails LTC home in Ingersoll where 1 staff member has tested positive. 5 people from the region have died from the virus. 

The number one symptom that has led to a positive test in the region is a cough, followed by a fever. Other symptoms that have resulted in positive tests include fatigue, headache, sore throat, shortness of breath and nasal congestion just to name a few. 17% of people who have tested positive in our region were asymptomatic. We currently do not have any COVID-19 patients in the hospital.
