Southwestern Public Health Confirms 7 New Cases of COVID-19 This Morning

We currently have 116 active cases after the health unit recorded 7 new cases this morning and 8 recoveries. Over half of the active cases in the region are in Woodstock.

OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health has confirmed 7 new cases of the virus today and 8 resolved cases. 

We currently have 2 people in the hospital with the virus and none are in the ICU at the moment. The Health Unit is reporting 116 active cases with 70 in Woodstock. Here is the breakdown of the locations according to Southwestern Public Health:

Woodstock - 70

Ingersoll - 13

Norwich Township - 4

Zorra Township - 2

Blandford-Blenheim - 1

South-West Oxford - 1

Tillsonburg - 1 

St. Thomas - 16

Dutton/Dunwich - 3

Aylmer - 2

Malahide - 1

West Elgin - 1

Central Elgin - 1

The Health Unit is also reporting 5 active outbreaks at long term care homes, including 3 more cases at Caressant Care Retirement home in Woodstock: 

Extendicare Port Stanley - 0 resident cases, 1 staff case and 0 deaths 

Caressant Care Retirement Home Woodstock - 51 resident cases, 18 staff cases and 2 deaths 

Arches Transitional Bed Program Woodstock - 0 resident cases, 1 staff case and 0 deaths

PeopleCare/Tavistock - 47 resident cases, 38 staff cases, 10 deaths 

Trillium Retirement Home Norwich - 1 resident case, 0 staff cases, 1 death
