Southwestern Public Health Confirms 8 new Cases of COVID-19 this Morning

The active case count in the SWPH region stays at 77 after the Health Unit also confirmed 8 recoveries.

OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health confirmed 8 new cases of COVID-19 this morning and 8 recoveries. 

This brings our total number of ongoing cases to 77 and you can find the complete breakdown below:

Woodstock - 9

Tillsonburg - 7

Zorra - 5

South-West Oxford - 3

Blandford Blenheim - 2

Ingersoll - 2

East Zorra-Tavistock - 1 

Norwich Township - 1 

Aylmer - 22

Bayham - 9

St. Thomas - 7

Central Elgin - 3

Dutton-Dunwich - 3

West Elgin - 2

Southwold - 1

Four people are currently being treated for the virus in hospital, including one patient in the ICU. An outbreak has been declared at Elgin Manor in St. Thomas after two residents and a staff member tested positive for COVID-19. 

The Health Unit says 85.9 percent of eligible residents have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 81.0 percent have been fully vaccinated.
