Premier Doug Ford was asked today if the Province was going to delay Spring Break a second time, as daily case numbers continue to climb.
ONTARIO - The Premier announced today we will have an update about the upcoming Spring Break later this week.
Last month the Province announced it was delaying Spring break by a month because of rising COVID-19 cases. It is currently expected to start on Monday April 12th. As daily case numbers continue to rise in the Province, Premier Doug Ford was asked today if the Spring Break was going to delayed or pushed back again.
"The Education Minister will be keeping a sharp eye on it, as will the Medical Officer and myself. I don't want to predict two weeks out, we will be out, every single day communicating to the people. I can't give you a direct answer right now, two weeks down the road."
Ford was pressed on the issue as parents will need some time to plan if the Spring Break is going to be delayed again. Ford says we should have an answer later this week.
"I agree 100 percent with you, parents need the 2 weeks to plan but god forbid, we say were going to close, or we are going to open it and things change drastically, we see the numbers going up at a rapid speed right now. At the end of the week, we will have clear direction that will at least give people a week to 10 days to make plans."
