St. Paddy's Day Safety Tips from WPS

Have a safe plan to get home and always keep an eye on your drink.

WOODSTOCK - St. Patrick's Day weekend has arrived and Woodstock Police will be out in full force to make sure everyone has a safe and fun time.

Community Service Officer Shaylyn Jackson says a lot of people like to indulge in green beers for this holiday, so officers will be on the lookout for impaired drivers.

"We try to be proactive and encourage people to have a plan in advance so we don't see an increase of impaired drivers. That being said, we will be out in full force ready to keep an eye on our roads and ensure that they're safe and that all of the people who are celebrating are doing so as well."

If you are planning on drinking this weekend, Jackson says you should call a cab or arrange a designated driver so you can get home. If you're drinking at a friend's house, you can also spend the night there.

Jackson also has this piece of advice for those planning on drinking this weekend.

"We always want to make sure that people remember to hydrate and be safe while they're drinking by keeping an eye on their drinks, ensuring that they're not accepting drinks from strangers that are open already and that they're looking out for each other and their friends."

St. Patrick's Day is coming up on Sunday March 17th.

The Oxford OPP has also released from St. Patrick's Day safety tips, and you can find all of the details online here.
