South-West Oxford is the only township in the County without a confirmed case of COVID-19. Mayor David Mayberry says this is good, but dangerous, news.
OXFORD COUNTY - The latest numbers from Southwestern Public Health show that we currently have 9 active cases of COVID-19 in Oxford County.
Every township has at least one active case with the exception of South-West Oxford. Tillsonburg and Bland-Blenheim both have two active cases.
The Mayor of SWOX, David Mayberry is not celebrating these numbers at all, in fact he says residents need to remain diligent in their efforts to preven COVID-19 from coming into their community. Here is the full message from Mayor David Mayberry:
As of noon on April 13th, South-West Oxford has no confirmed cases of COVID – 19. This is good, but dangerous, news. The fact that we have no cases might lead some to think that we don’t need to remain vigilant, that we can relax our determined efforts. Nothing could be further from the truth!
This good fortune will not remain ours unless we deliberately and determinedly stay on guard. We need to continue the practice of physical distancing now as much as ever, we need to keep washing our hands, coughing into our elbows and staying home whenever possible. As the days roll by, there will be a very real temptation to let down our collective guard, but for the sake of yourselves and the broader community, I ask you to respect the safe guards encouraged by Southwestern Public Health that have so far kept us safe.
Please remember, the spread of this virus is, for the most part, spread by human physical interaction or contact. We can prevent the vast majority of that contact if we try. We have done well so far, so please for the sake of all of us, keep up the good work!

Thank you again citizens of South-West Oxford; we are relying on each other to keep us all safe!
