Police say the man slammed into a cruiser, tried to get away, got stuck, fled on foot and broke into a business before getting arrested on Thursday morning.
STRATFORD - A Stratford man is facing a total of 13 charges after trying to get away from police in Perth East.
Police say they first tried to pull over the man around 4 am on Thursday. The driver then slammed into the cruiser and took off. The vehicle got stuck and the suspect fled on foot. Police say the man then broke into a nearby property and was eventually tracked down by police and with the help of the OPP Canine.
26 year old Jacob Paterson was arrested and charged with the following:
- Break, Enter a Place -Commit Indictable Offence
- Trespassing at Night
- Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Dangerous Operation
- Failure to Stop After Accident
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Possession of Break In Instruments
- Break, Enter a Place - with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine
- Failure to Comply with Release Order - Other than to attend court
- Trespassing at Night
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
