Stratford Police to Take Part in Fill a Cruiser

They will be set up on Saturday December 5th collecting toys from 9-1pm

STRATFORD - There will be a lot of excited kids on Christmas morning thanks to the Stratford Police Service.

This Saturday several cruisers will be placed at the Walmart on Ontario St. as police officers collect toys.  Inspector with the Stratford Police Unit, Sam Theocharis, explains where the toys will be distributed too.  "Once all the toys are completed, we are hoping that we fill the vehicle up several times over, and we will divide them up between several groups within the City of Stratford to provide gifts to children and individuals within our area."

Several cruisers will be parked out front of the Walmart and Inspector Theocharis spoke to Heart FM on if they have set a goal they are hoping to reach.  "Right now no there is not, we would like to fill it several times.  The vehicles aren't that big, the more items that we get the better of course, there will be all of us and we are hoping that there will be group of generous individuals out there helping us on Saturday.  There are other groups in Stratford collecting food and we figured this time around that we would look at getting toys for needy children in our area."

Inspector Theocharis knows the support over the last few years has been overwhelming, and he is hoping this year won't be an exception.  "We had great support from the local public here in Stratford, we need to help the less fortunate it is well understood.  We really have a warm community setting that is out to help one another in a time of need, especially around the Christmas season.  I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and I am hoping to see as many people out to donate their toys to a good cause."  You can drop your toys off between 9-1pm on Saturday.
