Police are reminding motorists to be cautious for debris and fallen tree's when the winds start to pick up this afternoon.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the region as it looks like we could get hit with some severe winds this afternoon.
Wind gusts could reach up to 80 km/hour at times today. Norfolk County OPP Detachment Commander Joseph Varga wants to remind motorists to watch out for falling debris.
"I want to remind folks that with the strong winds that we are going to experience today, we will have fallen tree's on the roadway, we have already had one collision this morning where a car ran into a fallen tree on the roadway. Slow down, be aware of your surrounding because we want everyone to get through this nasty weather in a safe manner."
The strong winds are forecast to gradually weaken overnight. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Power outages are also a concern. Several residents are without power right now in Norfolk County because of the strong winds.
