The OPP stopped six vehicles for stunt driving on Highway 401 in South-West Oxford, all in one night.
SWOX - The Oxford OPP is reminding drivers out there to choose safety over speed, after six vehicles were stopped for stunt driving all in one night.
This was while officers were conducting proactive speed enforcement on Highway 401 in South-West Oxford over the weekend.
The speed limit is 100 kilometres per hour on that stretch of highway, but police say the speedsters were going anywhere between 159 and 173 kilometres per hour.
Police say speeding not only reduces your breaking and stopping distance, but it can also reduce your field of vision, making it harder to react to quickly changing road conditions.
The penalties for stunt driving include a 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound. If convicted, you could face a fine ranging from $2,000 to $10,000, six demerit points, a jail sentence of up to six months, further licence suspension (ranging from one year to a lifetime suspension), and a mandatory driver improvement course.
