According to MPP Ernie Hardeman's survey the rising cost of hydro and the proposed provincial pension plan are hurting businesses.
OXFORD COUNTY - The results are in from the annual business survey conducted by local MPP Ernie Hardeman.
Every year Hardeman sends out the survey to businesses in Oxford County to find out some of the biggest challenges facing them.
"We do the survey to hear from the businesses on how things are going as far as government and policy wise, whether the challenges they were facing last year have improved or gotten worse or if they are facing new challenges."
He tells Heart FM some of the statistics that really stood out for him this year.
"A couple of interesting ones that were new this year include the 92% of the businesses that said the new pension plan that the Provincial Government is talking about is going to negatively impact their business, of course the government said that this plan is going to help small businesses."
Some of the other notable results include every respondent saying they are impacted by the increasing hydro costs and 72% said the impact was significant. The survey also found that 75% of respondents said that red tape has increased in Ontario.
"The government says they are reducing red tape but they are reducing the red tape that is of little significance to local businesses and they are also adding new red tape on."
