SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - A fire at the eastbound Onroute on the 401 had South-West Oxford Fire & Emergency Services respond.
Just after 2:20 yesterday afternoon, a single vehicle caught fire and fire crews from Beachville Station #1 and Mount Elgin Station #2 came to the scene. Firefighters found a fully involved Mercedes-Benz next to the refuelling station. Crews acted quickly to contain and extinguish the fire, bringing the incident under control in approximately 20 minutes.
The fire destroyed the vehicle and damaged the front of a gas pump and canopy at the service station, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
South-West Oxford Fire & Emergency Services reminds motorists to remain vigilant while refuelling and to move away from the vehicle and fuel pumps immediately if smoke or fire is observed.
