SWPH Confirms 23 New Cases of COVID-19

The active case count sits at 201 in SWPH region as we head into the weekend.

OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health Unit confirmed 23 new cases of COVID-19 this morning and 21 resolved cases. 

This brings our total number of ongoing cases to 201. You can find a complete breakdown of the numbers, based on location here.

Blandford-Blenheim - 3

South-West Oxford - 2

East-Zorra Tavistock - 2

Zorra - 2

Central Elgin - 3

Dutton/Dunwich - 1

10 people are currently being treated for the virus in hospital, including 5 people in the ICU. 

The Health Unit says 85.1 percent of residents 12+ have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 82.9 percent have been fully vaccinated. The Health Unit is also dealing with an outbreak at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas where 8 residents and 8 staff members have tested positive for the virus. Outbreaks have also been declared at four schools in the region. They include, St. Joseph's Catholic School in Tillsonburg, Woodstock Christian School, Immanuel Christian School in Aylmer and South Ridge Public School in St. Thomas.
