SWPH Confirms 29 New Cases of COVID-19 This Morning

The active case count in the SWPH region now sits at 328 as almost every township in Oxford County now has double digit COVID-19 numbers.

OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health Unit confirmed 29 new cases of COVID-19 this morning and 19 resolved cases. 

This brings our total number of ongoing cases to 328. You can find a complete breakdown of the numbers, based on location here.

Norwich Township - 13

Blandford-Blenheim - 12

South-West Oxford - 11

East-Zorra Tavistock - 9

Malahide - 8

Bayham - 5

West Elgin - 4

Southwold - 1

11 people are currently being treated for the virus in hospital, including 4 people in the ICU. 

The Health Unit says 85.6 percent of residents 12+ have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 83.5 percent have been fully vaccinated. The Health Unit is also dealing with an outbreak at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas where 11 residents and 9 staff members have tested positive for the virus. Two residents have died during the outbreak.
