Take A Hike Oxford is coming this Saturday, with events planned across four different trails in Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - With spring soon turning to summer, now is a great chance to take in some of the outdoor beauty in Oxford County.
The Oxford County Trails Council is getting set to host Take A Hike Oxford this coming Saturday, and they have several events planned for the different trails around Oxford County.
Chair Dan Molinaro, says the main focus is to get the county familiar with the trails right in their backyards.
"We wanted to get people out to different trails that they might not be familiar with. We wanted to spread it around, so it wasn't all in one area. We've tried to get as much of the county involved as possible, without making people go out too far."
The trails being offered include the Herbert Milnes trail in Woodstock, the Oxford Thames River trail in Beachville, the Hickson trail in Hickson, and the John Lawson trail in Ingersoll.
Some of the activities being offered include guided trail hikes, face painting, take-home gardens, photography walks, and more. With the forecast currently looking like it'll be a warm and sunny one, Molinaro says it's important to be prepared to spend some time outside.
"Things to bring; Water bottles, bring snacks, bring bug spray, sun screen, and wear appropriate footwear for hiking. Be sure to get involved with all the activities."
The event will take place on Saturday, June 1st, and is set to run from 10:00 a.m. through to 2:00 p.m.. The full list of activities and addresses for the trails being offered on the day can found online here or on the Oxford County Trails Council Facebook page.
