Teachers Step Up Job Action

The teachers' union is ramping up job action by withdrawing from Ministry of Education meetings, workshops, and meetings with principals.

Elementary school teachers in Oxford and across the Province are ramping up their job action today.

Last month the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario announced work to rule action. Today the union is expanding on the job action by further withdrawing from Ministry of Education meetings, workshops and mandated meetings with principals.

The Thames Valley District School Board has issued a release stating schools will remain open and classes are continuing despite the ongoing job action. Associate Director Jeff Pratt says the action is not expected to impact the day-to-day teaching at our schools and teachers will continue to teach and provide extra help to students.

Teachers will also continue to maintain contact with parents regarding students. The school board also states at this time field trips and extra-curricular activities will continue, however planning for field trips next year could be delayed. A few things parents may notice is the report cards sent home this year will not have comments in them and teachers will not be doing EQAO testing during the work to rule campaign.
