A teenager in Norfolk County alerted police about an online scam after he tried to purchase a fake I.D.
NORFOLK COUNTY - Mark this one down in the file labelled, you can't make this stuff up.
A teenager in Norfolk County called police after he tried to purchase a fake I.D. The teen was upset because it turned out to be a scam. He noticed the ad on social media web site, sent money, however no fake identification was sent in return.
What is most concerning for police is the teen would have sent the scammer money and some of his personal information.
The OPP are urging all residents to protect their personal information. By sending your personal and identifying information to an unknown individual or fake ID business, opens the door to someone stealing your identity.
Don't become a statistic. Fraud is a multi-billion dollar enterprise that will only stop when the scammers stop getting money, banking information or personal information.
