The Terry Fox run in Woodstock raised nearly $20,000 during the 35th anniversary of the iconic run across Canada.
WOODSTOCK - Terry Fox Runs filled the streets across Oxford County with events happening in Tillsonburg, Tavistock and Woodstock.
The Woodstock Event drew a record number of participants with over 240 showing up on Sunday to run, walk, cycle and even roller blade in support of cancer research. One of the run organizers in Woodstock Sam Khanna tells Heart FM it was great to see so many kids come out to the event.
"There was a lot more kids this year and a lot of people on bikes and it was very encouraging, it seems like it is growing every year and it was good to see the bikes, because it was a lot of younger kids, so they are going to be involved at a young age."
Khanna says normally they get about 180 participants on a good year and it was great to see so many people come out for the 35th anniversary of Terry Fox's historical run. While final numbers are still being added up it is expected this years run in Woodstock will produce nearly $20,000 for cancer research.
