TILLSONBURG - Theatre Tillsonburg will be putting on a new comedy called The Birds and The Bees this week.

It's a play that deals with mature subject matter, looking at love and relationships.

Actor Jim Konopetski will be making his return to the stage for the first time in four years. He says he's a bit nervous, but he's really looking forward to it.

"I play the part of Earl and Earl's a farmer. And Earl rents land from his neighbour, her name's Gail and she's also a beekeeper. So they've known each other for many years and they have a kind of a chemistry between them and sometimes it's a little rocky and sometimes it's pretty amicable. Gail's daughter moves back home because her marriage has broken up and the daughter's name is Sarah and Sarah's a turkey farmer. And with the birds and the bees, the turkey and the bees, that's where we kind of get the backdrop for the show."

He says rehearsals have been going very well and the cast has been working very hard, although they had to overcome some challenges. Konopetski says it took a bit of time to find actors to cast, and a couple of them even got sick over the holidays.

He adds they've persevered though and they're ready to hit the stage on opening night.

Konopetski says it's a show that will make audiences really laugh.

"I think people will identify with these characters. I think they will laugh at the situations that they find themselves in and they will relate to what these characters experience."
