The Woodstock Library has lots of events planned to keep you and the kids booked all summer.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Library has a full slate of events for kids this summer.
They still have some spots left in the TD Summer Reading Club where kids between the ages of 2 - 12 can get together, play games, and find that perfect book. Part of that program partners teens with the reading club members. Reading crew partners the kids with teens who are getting their volunteer hours, where they work on their reading, play games, and it is all centred around a Pirate theme. It is also a great opportunity for teens to get their 50 hours of community service done. They are also doing a summer long scavenger hunt and the first clue is already available.
Manager of Public Services Darlene Pretty says they also have a great program on Tuesday afternoons called reading around Woodstock. "This is where we have invited people from the community to come in and read with the children and talk about their jobs or their hobbies. We have a number of interesting people coming in, we have police officers coming in, the fire department, and Don McKay will come in to talk about farming just to name a few."
Pretty says they also have a little crafters program, kid movie Fridays, Mad Science is coming to the library four times this summer, and they are starting a book club for adults. The library has something going on pretty well every day this summer. Most of the programs are free of charge and you can find more information on their web site www.woodstock.library.on.ca
