The Habit of Murder will make it's debut this Thursday.
TILLSONBURG - The next production at Theatre Tillsonburg is a murder mystery, but with some comedic elements.
The Habit of Murder will make it's debut this Thursday and it will continue this weekend and next weekend as well.
Director Joe Sheik says it's about a nun who is called in to solve a murder, after a body was found in the wall of a church.
"She has returned to the small town to deal with her father so now she's home, and she has made a reputation of helping the big city people use her reasons of logic to solve a mystery. So they have investigated her and brought her in and she helps out with the whole story."
Here's the thing though, the town recently won a hockey championship so no one is paying attention to the murder investigation.
Adelle Greenwood is one of the actors hitting the stage and she has a fun scene with her scene partner.
"We basically show up in full hazmat suits with full mask, gloves, boots, the whole outfit! We're checking out the space and trying to clear it of asbestos, but one of us is a very hard worker and the other is not so much."
This show has been in the works for a year and a half now, and they are 40 to 45 cast and crew members involved. Sheik says that number does not include all of the amazing crafts and trades people who have assisted as well.
The show is recommended for teenagers and older. Sheik says those who check it out could also walk out of the theatre with more than just a smile on their face.
"A ticket gives you a shot at winning a free $400 steel firepit that has been donated by Dan Metal with Metal out of Aylmer. So you buy some tickets, put it in the draw, we draw one person and they are going to walk out at the end of those eight nights with a sold steel metal firepit."
But wait, he says there's more.
"We have a ticket in the program, so you can solve the mystery and put it in the draw. From all of the winning correct guesses one person will win four free tickets, a $100 value, for our next Christmas show in November 2025."
Tickets and showtimes for The Habit of Murder can be found online here.
Joe Sheik and Adelle Greenwood stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Cody and Marcie on Friday May 23rd. You can listen to the full interview below:
