MADD kicks-off red ribbon campaign in Woodstock on Friday

Mothers Against Drunk Driving are rolling out the red ribbon campaign in Woodstock starting this weekend.  The ribbons are an annual reminder not to drink and drive during the festive season.

On Friday, a few speakers will be delivering their messages of sober driving at Museum Square.  The event goes at 2PM and the public is welcomed to attend.

Organizer Mary Rodrigues says several local first responders will share their stories.  "You know, they see so much first hand from the dangers of impaired and distracted driving.  To hear it from their point of view, I think will be very impactful."

The speakers include Woodstock Police Constable Darcy Campbell, Todd Martin from Oxford EMS, and Woodstock Mayor Pat Sobeski are among the confirmed speakers.

Rodrigues will also be speaking about her son, Alexander Fleming, who was killed in a crash involving a drunk driver 5-years-ago.

As for the red ribbons, they will be available in some local retail stores, and will be given out by police at RIDE programs over the next couple of months.
