There will be lots to do at the Tillsonburg Community Centre this evening in honour of its 50th anniversary.
TILLSONBURG - It's been half a century since the ribbon-cutting of Tillsonburg's Community Centre.
The Town hosting a celebration with free activities for families this evening, including a cake-cutting and family skating, fitness and swimming between 4:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Each activity has its own time slot and there is a transitional period should you wish to attend all sessions.
The event will start with a ceremony, where Deputy Mayor Dave Beres and Oxford County Warden Larry Martin will act as keynote speakers. There will also be a congratulatory letter from MP Dave MacKenzie.
Director of Recreation, Culture and Parks Julie Columbus says it will be a fun evening to honour the Community Centre's role in the town.
"It's been a huge part of [the Town] for residents that were youth or children when the ribbon-cutting happened 50 years ago and now they're probably parents or grandparents themselves. We just want to connect with the community and invite everyone to celebrate what the Tillsonburg Community Centre has meant to the families and residents of our town."
Tonight's event is free to the public and no sign-up is required.
