The new interim Director of Recreation, Culture and Parks brings experience in education and in both public management and municipal leadership.
TILLSONBURG - A new interim Director of Recreation, Culture and Parks has been named in Tillsonburg. Christopher Baird has a long, distinguished track record as a municipal manager, with experience in a variety of areas including facilities management, parks maintenance and tourism and heritage.
Most of Baird's career was spent with Norfolk County, where he served 15 years as general manager of the Development and Cultural Services department. In 2018, he became General Manager of the Public Works division before retiring in 2019.
Chief Administrative Officer Kyle Pratt says Baird's knowledge and skills will be considered an asset moving forward.
“The Town of Tillsonburg is beginning the process of renewing our focus on the Community Strategic Plan. Chris’ broad knowledge base and management skills will be an asset as we determine how to move the municipality forward.”
He has a masters certificate in both public management and municipal leadership from the Shulich School of Business at York University. He is a Certified Municipal Manager (CMM III) and Certified Facility Manager (CFM). He is also a Certified Engineering Technician (CET) and a Professional Economic Developer (Ec.D). He completed his undergraduate studies at Carleton University.
Mayor Stephen Molnar says Baird will be an addition to the Town of Tillsonburg.
“Chris’ municipal background and varied skill set are welcome additions to our team."
Baird will start in his new position on July 13th.
