WOODSTOCK – The Province is helping to make sure Oxford County is open for business and open for jobs by investing in the local economic development sector.
Today, MPP for Oxford Ernie Hardeman announced the Town of Tillsonburg is receiving a Community Economic Development Grant of $1,205,000. It'll go towards sewers, watermains and roads in the Van Norman Innovation Park.
An investment-ready business park will give Tillsonburg a competitive advantage, helping to attract new investment and new jobs to the area.
The municipally controlled business park will also allow the Town to encourage the growth of high-tech manufacturing, focusing on the advanced manufacturing, auto and the agri-food processing industries.
MPP Hardeman says this funding can help grow Tillsonburg grow and become successful.
“Since taking office, our government has sent a clear message that Ontario is open for business and open for jobs. We’re creating an environment where businesses can focus on what they do best — developing great products and services and building successful companies. It’s great to see the Town of Tillsonburg invest in the infrastructure that will help to attract and retain those businesses here in Oxford.”
Mayor Stephen Molnar says the investment will have a strong impact on Tillsonburg's economy.
“Having pre-serviced, shovel-ready land available is key to attracting new investment to our community. This investment by the Ontario government will help launch our community’s economic recovery and have a positive impact on the province as a whole.”
Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, Vic Fedeli says industries will also grow as a result.
“Today is an exciting day for the Town of Tillsonburg. This investment in the Town’s business park will help promote the growth of the advanced manufacturing sector and attract well-paying jobs to the community and surrounding regions.”
