The Tillsonburg and District Multi-Service Centre will host their annual Trail Walk and Run on May 26th.
TILLSONBURG - The 8th Annual Trail Walk and Run is happening in Tillsonburg later this month.
Participants can either run or walk the Carroll Trail in Coronation Park, featuring a two kilometre and five kilometre loop.
Executive Director of the Tillsonburg and District Multi-Service Centre, Kathryn Leatherland says the race has two paths, offering different levels of difficulty for runners and walkers.
"The 2 km loop is a very flat paved trail. The more difficult, but they consider it a medium difficulty, 5 km loop, it is hilly. So if you're looking for that type of running or walking experience you can have that challenge."
The event is in partnership with the Parkinson Society of Southwestern Ontario and it has brought in a combination of over $47,000 in the last seven years.
Leatherland says they're hoping to raise close to $10,000.00 this year and the proceeds will be divided between the two agencies.
"Traditionally, we would love to raise approximately $10,000.00. It is a partnership with the Parkinson Society of Southwestern Ontario so we do split the proceeds between the two agencies.
She adds this a family-friendly event for the community. After the race, a barbeque will be held for all participants and their families, along with activities for children including face painting and a bouncy castle.
You can register online or in person at the MSC Centre in the Town Centre Mall in Tillsonburg. A pre-registration fee is available for $30.00 or you can pay $35.00 on the day of the event, between 9:00 -10:00am at Coronation Park.
The Trail Walk and Run is on May 26th and the race starts at 10:30am.
