A truck fire on the 401 caused delays and lane closures for traffic this morning.

OXFORD COUNTY - There was heavy traffic on the westbound 401.

Sergeant Ed Sanchuck with the West Region OPP posted a video on social media explaining why the backlog was taking place.

"What I can tell you right now is that just shortly before 8 o'clock this morning, a member of the Oxford Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was travelling down the roadway and observed a trailer that appeared to be on fire. The trailer transport truck was stopped. The transport truck detached from that trailer; it turned out that the axle was on fire."

At this time, there have been no injuries reported as a result of the fire.

Sanchuck says firefighters arrived at the scene and quickly brought the fire under control and extinguished it. Two lanes of the 401 were closed while the incident was being dealt with, but all lanes reopened around 9:30.
