There are reports that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Doug Ford will announce a $10.2-billion child care deal today.
ONTARIO - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be in the GTA this morning to make a joint announcement with Premier Doug Ford.
There are reports that the two leaders will announce a $10.2-billion child care deal that will slash child-care fees in Ontario in half by the end of the year.
Prime Minister Trudeau has pledged to lower child-care fees to an average of $10 per day in every province and territory by the end of 2026 and today's announcement will be the last deal needed to make that promise a reality.
The press conference is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. today. Trudeau and Ford will be joined by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland, Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce and Federal Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Karina Gould.
