U.S. Land Border to Reopen to Non-Essential Travel Next Month

Senior Biden administration officials have confirmed that the U.S. land border will reopen to fully vaccinated Canadian tourists next month.

UNITED STATES - The United States is about to reopen it's land border to non-essential travel.

Senior government officials say fully vaccinated Canadian tourists will be able to cross the border next month. More details will be announced later today and it's not yet clear if those who have received mixed doses of COVID-19 vaccines will be allowed to cross the border.

New York congressman Brian Higgins released an official statement on the matter last night. He says the news is a sigh of relief for northern border communities, adding businesses have been suffering during the closure and families have been distraught over separation caused by the shutdown.

The U.S. land border has been closed to non-essential travel for 19 months now due to the pandemic. Canada opened it's land border to fully vaccinated tourists back in August, but they also have to provide a negative COVID test.
