Former president Jerry Dias accused of breaching union's constitution.
Unifor is investigating a complaint accusing former president Jerry Dias of breaching the union's constitution.
The complaint went to secretary-treasurer Lana Payne on January 26th, but the content of the complaint has not been shared publicly.
This news after Dias announced his retirement yesterday from the country's largest union, citing health issues.
The union, which represents about 315,000 workers, says Dias was made aware of the complaint on January 29th, before starting a medical leave of absence on February 6th.
His medical leave extended until Sunday.
Dias began leading the union in 2013, and was known for securing job security, benefits, and rights for workers, often going to great lengths to do so.
