Volunteers are stepping up in a big ways across Oxford County today for the United Way's Day of Caring.
WOODSTOCK - People are rolling up their sleeves and accomplishing good deeds as part of the United Way's Day of Caring.
Some of the work going on today including preparing healthy snacks for kids over at St Joseph's, landscaping at the Alzheimer's society, and painting at Oxford Elgin Child and Youth Centre. Volunteer Amanda Kreiger tells Heart FM the volunteers are also doing some painting at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office in Woodstock.
"Just to make it feel a little bit more welcoming for the youth that come here and the volunteers that come here to help, we are painting it a priority colour so it is nice and bright and very welcoming for all of the programs that they host in this space."
This is the 12 annual Day of Caring for United Way Oxford and there are 15 projects underway. Kreiger says all of the work being done today is being done by volunteers.
"So today we have Micacchi Warnick, who is also are event sponsor for the Day of Caring. We have a great team of 8 volunteers here at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office in Woodstock and the volunteers are doing a great job."
Volunteers are taking part in Day of Caring events all day today in places like Tillsonburg and Ingersoll.
