Highway 19 is open after it was closed between Curry Road and Union Road for nearly ten hours. Two people were injured in the crash on Highway 19 near Sweaburg Road early this morning. According to Oxford OPP, the Norfolk police received a report of stolen Jeep Cherokee in the Delhi area around 2 a.m. Police spotted the stolen vehicle on Highway 3 and a pursuit ensued with speeds reaching 160 km/h at times. The vehicle travelled into Oxford County on Highway 19 north of Tillsonburg when according to Constable Michelle Murphy, the stolen vehicle crashed into a parked transport truck. "The Jeep Cherokee avoided a spike belt that deployed by our officers and ended up hitting a transport truck that was parked on the shoulder of the road. Upon hitting that transport truck, it then bounced the Jeep into a cruiser at which time the male party in the Jeep was ejected from the vehicle. He then tried to escape from police on foot and police were able to arrest him," said Murphy. The suspect and driver of the transport were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Police say the driver of the stolen Jeep, 34 year-old Konrad French of Chippewa of the Thames has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Theft over $5,000, Flight from Police and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
