SWPH will not require or recommend continued proof of vaccination beyond what is outlined by the Province.
Vaccine passports are set to end next week.
Premier Doug Ford announced he was ending the passport QR system on March 1st. Local businesses will continue to have the option to implement the passport if they want too. Heart FM has reached out to local Townships and the City, who say they will follow the advice of the Province and the Health Unit.
Medical Officer of Health for Southwestern Public Health Dr. Joyce Lock says they will not be recommending extending the proof of vaccination system.
"In order to avoid confusion or cause inequities among businesses, Southwestern Public Health will not require or recommend continued proof of vaccination (vaccine passports) beyond what is outlined by the province. However, we continue to promote COVID-19 vaccination as the best protection against serious illness, hospitalization and death and hope that local employers will continue to encourage their staff to get fully vaccinated and boosted as well."
