They will have plenty of winter clothing for the whole family available to anyone who needs it at the Warm Up Woodstock Open House this Saturday at Good Beginnings.
The Friendly City earned it's nickname with the Warm Up Woodstock campaign this year.
Several winter coats, hats, boots and mitts were donated this year. They will be giving them out to families in need at an Open House at Good Beginnings in Woodstock this Saturday November 13th.
Tim Howard, Co-Organizer of Warm Up Woodstock talks about all the amazing donations they've received from businesses and people all across Woodstock.
"I was completely overwhelmed and flabbergasted and amazed by the donations and the generosity of everybody that donated, it has been awesome. Huge shutout to Carol and Dave down at C&D Lanes, we did a bunch of pickups there. The Winners store in Woodstock, Allison and the crew down there gave us a big box and are loaning us some hangars for the event on Saturday. The staff at Good Beginnings, aw man, they got so much stuff and they've been taking stuff home to wash and clean up, so all of the anonymous donations; I’m just amazed."
Howard talks about where and when the campaign is and what is going to be at the Warm Up Woodstock campaign.
"The open house is on Saturday morning, it’s from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. It’s on 871 Dundas St, at the good beginnings administration office, it’s basically right across from the Food Basics. For the families with young kids that need a little help this year this is for you, come on out, say hi, and hopefully we can make things a little easier for you this year. We have everything from snow pants to hats, mittens, obviously coats, some boots, just loads and loads of stuff; we’re just overwhelmed by the generosity this year."
Howard addressed all the community sponsors and what they need to succeed.
"The centerpiece is definitely Good Beginnings, they kind of organized this and I try and go around and do some pickups and make things a little bit easier for them. You know with the community sponsors, Good Will, C&D Lanes, Winners, even yourselves there at Heart FM for getting the word out it’s been amazing. Now we just need people to come to the open house, like I said, if you need help, if things are a little tight come on out, we want to help you."
Howard touches on roughly how many kids they're going to be able to help this winter and if it’s only for kids or if there’s anything for adults.
"A little bit of it has to do with sizing, Good Beginnings has been going through the sizing and all that, getting that all figured out, but we've got a board room at Good Beginnings and it’s getting pretty full. As for how many people can we help, when it comes to the children and the kids, I think we’re going to be able to help out a lot, probably I would say 50 to 100 for sure. We do have some adult stuff, with the overflow, we are going take some down to Operation Sharing and also to Trumpet of Truth and hopefully make sure it still goes to good use and stays local."
To close out the interview Howard gave a big thank you to everyone involved, not just sponsors but all who donated.
"Just a huge thank you, this has gotten bigger every single year and it's almost overwhelming, it gets me a little emotional talking about it, it's just fantastic seeing how generous everybody is."
The Warm Up Woodstock campaign will be held this Saturday at 871 Dundas St, Good Beginnings, if you need any winter clothing don't be afraid to visit and get what you need.
