The fundraiser for Tiny Paws Rescue would normally be happening this weekend, however due to the pandemic, they are forced to go virtual.
WOODSTOCK - Due to Covid-19, the popular canine event Weinerfest is going virtual this year.
They have reimagined the event to be interactive on the group's Facebook page in place of the physical event.
Weinerfest would have been celebrating their 20th anniversary this Saturday, but instead will have an entire year to celebrate as they are having their 20th and 21st anniversary on Sat June 26 in 2021.
From now, until then, they will be doing something special each month, including a costume contest, best Trick contest, colouring Contest and of course the cutest Wiener picture.
This year they will try Wiener Bingo and the Wiener handbag silent auction as well. Very soon they will be having a Virtual On line Market to promote the vendors that would have otherwise been at the physical event.
Event Creator and Organizer, Linda Collier says it is important to remember that the event is also a fundraiser to help local dogs in rescue.
"The event has been a long time supporter of Tiny Paws Dog Rescue of Canada, who will in turn be impacted with less money this year. To help alleviate this, there will be an online silent auction to raise some funds."
The funds will support some senior dogs and palliative dogs in care that have major vet bills that would typically be paid for with funds raised at the event.
Wienerfest is hoping the community can donate totes of any kind, as they are now able to pack up items for the event and store them thanks to The Moving Box in Woodstock, so they can be prepared for the physical Wienerfest next year.
