A $45 dollar fine is what you could face for breaking the by-law
WOODSTOCK - If you are caught parking on the street overnight in Woodstock you better be prepared to pay the fine.
By-law Enforcement Officer, Greg Rabe, discusses what this means for residents in Woodstock and why they do this. "It basically restricts vehicles on the street from 2-6am from December 1st to March 31st. The reasoning is to get vehicles off the roadways so that the city vehicles and snow plows can easily access the streets and remove the snow as needed."
Now that the annual ban has been placed for overnight parking on the street in Woodstock, Rabe explains the consequences for disobeying the by-law. "The current fine for parking on a roadway between the hours of 2-6am is $45. The By-law Department makes it a practice to generally not go out when we have no snow and the plows aren't out on the street, but they can still receive a ticket from either the By-law Department or Woodstock City Police."
Rabe spoke to Heart FM if there is a problem with those who continue to park on the street. "I know that every year vehicles on the road seem to become less and less. These restrictions are in place to get the vehicles off the roads, so that the snow can be removed in a timely and safe manner and make the roadways safe for everyone." The Friendly City has already received its first snowfall of the season and it can reappear quickly so the roads need to be clear for when it happens again.
