Woodstock City Councillors and Mayor Vote for Pay Increase

Woodstock City councillors and the Mayor voted in favour of a pay increase on Thursday night.

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Councillors and the Mayor will be getting a pay raise next year. 

They voted in favour of the increase last night. The increase was done to offset the Federal Government's elimination of the one-third tax-free exemption for municipal officials. Under the new pay scale councillors will earn an extra $3,100 a year, the acting mayor will earn an extra $3,200 a year and the Mayor will receive an extra $9,600. 

The motion was passed in a recorded vote. It was brought for to council by Connie Lauder. With the new pay scale the Mayor will earn $75,789, the deputy mayor will earn 35,321 and councillors will be paid $32,957 in base salaries.
