Jack and Sharyn Cheney were presented with a cheque for $20,000 at the Home Hardware in Woodstock this morning.
A local couple is $20,000 richer after the Home Installs Give Back Your Money Contest.
This is a national contest from Home Hardware and the winning couple entered the contest after making a purchase at their local Home Hardware in Woodstock.
Jack and Sharyn Cheney were presented with a cheque for $20,000. Jack says it was quite the surprise when they won.
"It was just amazing, once in a lifetime this kind of thing happens for you, so I was thrilled, really excited this happened for us."
Sharyn says the couple plans to spend the money to upgrade their kitchen.
"We are going to get some new cupboards, new sink, new taps, we are changing the design in the kitchen, going to build a big pantry and just make it look more updated."
She notes the first call they made after they won, was to their children.
Owner of the Woodstock and Ingersoll Home Hardware Adam Moulton explains how the couple won the Give Back Your Money Contest.
"It allows customers a chance to win back some of their money for their home renovation. Whether that is a kitchen, flooring, basement renovation, regardless of what the actual project is, if it is being executed by one of our team members at any of the Home Hardware stores across Canada, we give our customers a chance to win back a good chunk of the money they will spend on their home renovation project."
Moulton also wanted to thank the Cheney's for shopping local.
"It has been a tough couple of years and it is amazing to see customers still trusting us with the projects in their homes and having customers continue to support locally owned and operated companies that support local trades and support a lot of local jobs."
