The Woodstock Hospital is encouraging people to think greener as they celebrate their environmental accomplishments on Earth Day.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Hospital is celebrating Earth Day by highlighting some of the work they are doing to help protect the environment. Chris Marion, Capital Project Coordinator, tells Heart FM about the hospital's recent accomplishments.
"We have been nominated for Green Hospital of the year for two years in a row as well as the recipient of the Recycle Council of Ontario's Silver Award for our waste diversion."
About 35% of the hospital's waste has been diverted from the landfill thanks to the multiple programs they have in place.
The hospital will also have lots of stations step up to help teach the public about sustainability. Marion gives us the details.
"We're going to have different booths from some of our vendors here at the hospital and our community partners. They're going to explain various ways the hospital as well as staff can be sustainable at home."
Staff at the hospital are also encouraged to bring in a reusable mug, a litterless lunch and have a carpool buddy on Friday in order to honour Earth Day.
The ceremony take place on Friday April 22nd at 10 a.m. in the hospital's cafeteria.
