Some of the best young baseball players in the country will be in Woodstock for the 13U National Championship.
WOODSTOCK - The best of the best in 13U baseball are coming to the Friendly City.
Woodstock Minor Baseball is hosting the 13U National Championship at Southside Park. The festivities will start on Wednesday, August 20th, and games start on Thursday, August 21st.
Brent Peltola, the Vice President of the Woodstock Minor Baseball Association provides insight on the procedure to become a host city.
"Its a competitive process to establish ourselves as a host. We are now on year three of a four year run."
He mentions that on Wednesday there will be a with a home run derby, where a player from every team will participate.
Peltola is inviting everyone to Baseball Night in Woodstock.
"Thursday night is also Baseball Night in Woodstock. Local residents can enter the park at no charge with a donation to the United Way School Supplies Program."
Once games start there will be a gate fee, and tickets can be purchased online.
