The club will be hosting a number of games and tournaments this summer, including Jitney three nights a week. It will be open until September.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Lawn Bowling Club is opening its doors for another season.
Among the club's tournaments include jitney, occurring three nights a week.
Club member Lorraine McLean says each night will feature a different format and different rules.
"On Monday night we do a different type of jitney, it's 4-3-2-1. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we play jitney where you would come out and we'd pull your name out of a hat and then you're paired with another person, or depending on the number of people that are there, we play trebles that night as well. On Monday night it's more of a skills based event where in 4-3-2-1 you actually carry your score with you for the eight ends that you play, so it's a different type of bowling."
Along with regular members, new participants can head there as well.
Club member Larry Brown says it's a great social event with your family or co-workers.
"It's a great social evening, the coffee pot's always on. We suggest places like families or companies. If you want to have a team building exercise, come on down. We can put everybody out there, they're all on the same basis because probably nobody in the group has ever done it before. So if you beat the boss, too bad! It gives you a good shot."
This year marks the 125th year the club has been open.
He says any of the club's members are happy to help out people trying the sport for the first time. He recommends to only try it for 20 minutes if it's your first time because you are using different muscles.
Flat running shoes are encouraged to be worn. In addition, you're allowed to wear skirts, shorts and jeans while participating.
The club's tournaments and games will be available until September.
