Oxford County Library is happy to welcome the Woodstock Library in the 2019 edition of Oxford Reads.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Library is joining the 2019 edition of Oxford Reads.
They have partnered with Oxford County Library for the community-wide reading initiative that highlights a featured work of Canadian literature every year.
This year’s book is a daring post-apocalyptic novel by Waubgeshig Rice, an author, and journalist originally from Wasauksing First Nation near Parry Sound, and host of Up North on CBC radio.
Moon of the Crusted Snow is a powerful story of survival, set against a vividly drawn backdrop in an isolated community teetering on the edge of collapse. It questions how we balance history, identity, family, and community, and continue to live in a good way, as society begins to crumble.
Now in its second year, Oxford Reads aims to connect readers across the County while celebrating Canadian literature and fostering discussion. A series of programs and events highlighting the diverse themes found in Moon of the Crusted Snow will be held across the County’s many library branches, including a gala this fall featuring the author.
Those who are interested can place a hold on a copy of the book at oxfordreads.ca or in-person at any of Oxford County’s 14 library branches or at the Woodstock Public Library. Reading guides will also be available. Anyone interested in purchasing a copy of the book can do so at Merrifield Book Shop in Woodstock.
