Woodstock Police Briefs - Wednesday September 28th

Woodstock Police briefs include an incident with a pellet gun on Anne Street, a shoplifter on Dundas Street, and a report of stolen cannabis plants in the Main Street and Douglas Street area.

WOODSTOCK - Cannabis plants have been stolen in Woodstock.

On Friday, September 23, the Woodstock Police Service responded to reports of a man fleeing on foot from a home in the area of Main Street and Douglas Street with suspected stolen cannabis plants sometime after 5:00 a.m.

Police were able to locate the 33-year-old Woodstock man in the area of Wellington Street and Henry Street. Upon further investigation, he was charged with trespassing and theft under $5,000.

Police want to remind those who may be growing outdoor cannabis plants to be mindful that plant theft takes place more frequently this time of year. To prevent this, they encourage residents to invest in motion sensor lighting and/or surveillance cameras for their property.

WOODSTOCK - An act of shoplifting took place at a Dundas Street store

On Friday, September 23, around 2:00 p.m., the Woodstock Police Service responded to reports from the store near Springbank Avenue about a shoplifter. 

The suspect was described as male, wearing a black sweater, sunglasses, a black hat backward, jeans, and red shoes. It was also said that at the time he was carrying a red reusable grocery bag.

WOODSTOCK - A woman with outstanding warrants for her arrest has been apprehended.

While on patrol Friday night, a Woodstock Police officer located the female in the area of Dundas Street near Beale Street.

Upon further investigation, the woman was found to be in possession of fentanyl, cocaine, and crystal meth. 

As a result, she was arrested on outstanding warrants and additionally charged with possession of an opioid for the purpose of trafficking. She was also charged with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine.

WOODSTOCK - A stolen vehicle from Sarnia has been found in Woodstock.

Not only was the suspicious vehicle from Sarnia, but the license plate was also stolen off of a vehicle in St. Thomas.

A Woodstock Police officer observed the vehicle parked in a shopping centre parking lot on Norwich Avenue on Saturday, September 24. 

Police would like to remind the public to regularly check that both license plates on your vehicles are securely in place, are a matching pair, and belong to your vehicle.

WOODSTOCK - Tools have been stolen from a pickup truck in the Friendly City.

Sometime overnight between Saturday and Sunday, someone reportedly stole a number of tools from the bed of a pickup truck parked on Victoria Street North near Northdale Drive. 

A variety of tools were reported stolen including a DeWalt skill saw, a reciprocating saw, an impact drill, a hammer drill, and an air nailer.

WOODSTOCK - A 46-year-old Woodstock man has been arrested on weapons charges.

On Sunday, September 25, around 6:30 p.m., the Woodstock Police responded to reports of a man shooting a firearm at a house on Anne Street.

The police located the man and seized an M4-style pellet rifle. They also laid multiple charges including careless use of a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
