The Woodstock Beavers, Cubs and Troop had a blast racing their Beaver Buggies and Cub Cars on Saturday.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Scouts hosted their first ever rally day on Saturday at the St. David's United Church parking lot.
Normally the Scout rally day has kids competing from all over the Province. The rally day has been cancelled for the past two years because of the pandemic, so the Woodstock Scouts decided to host their own.
The Woodstock Beavers, Cubs and Troop had a blast racing their Beaver Buggies and Cub Cars. Beaver Leader with 13 Woodstock Scouts Trevor Hendershott says the kids spent a lot of time working on their cars.
"The Beavers get to build their Beaver Buggies however they want, when they get to the Cub and Scout level, there is a lot more rules, they have to look at size and weight and little things they can or cannot do with their cars. The cubs get to build their cars from scratch, they get to design it however they want, while the Beavers get a block of wood with a cut out beaver that sits on top and they put wheels on it."
Hendershott says the kids had a blast.
"They absolutely loved it, just running back and forth to the track. They really seemed to enjoy it."
They had 25 kids take part this year, with each kid getting some bragging rights as they had prizes for the most unique, colourful or creative cars just to name a few.
