Woodstock moves to file injunction against Oxford County related to planning issue
WOODSTOCK – The City of Woodstock will take legal action against Oxford County.
The city claims the county acted outside of its official plan when in May councillors voted in favour of allowing a Norwich residence to hook up to the Tillsonburg sewage system.
"The official plan says that if you have a lot that's sufficient in size and you could put in a new septic system, then that's the option that you have to do," Mayor Pat Sobeski said.
"The problem in this case is that if you want to do something like extend a water main, you have to file an official plan amendment."
That amendment, Sobeski said, would allow anyone who may object to the cross-border service extension to appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board.
The city has set aside an upset limit of $30,000 for legal fees to file the injunction.
Councillors voted 6 to 1 in favour of Sobeski's motion to file the injunction, with Coun. Talbot opposed.
