PSD Taz passed away while assisting with a Stratford Police investigation on July 3rd, 2023.
WOODSTOCK - It has been one year since the Woodstock Police Service lost one of their own.
Police Service Dog Taz passed away on July 3rd, 2023, while assisting in a investigation in Stratford. The four-year-old sable German Shepherd accidentally ingested drugs and passed away after he was rushed to a vet clinic.
A memorial service took place at the Community Complex about a month later and the procession included police officers from across the province with their canine companions.
Taz was officially deployed in June 2022 and he was known for being an outstanding detection dog. He assisted in a number of investigations involving drugs, weapons, missing persons, and other arrests during his time with Woodstock Police. He also attended several community service engagements.
The Woodstock Police Service has shared a slideshow with pictures of him on their social media pages.
